Community Volunteer Experience

I am currently Treasurer of Board of Children of Shelters (COS), a non-profit organization based in San Francisco that is dedicated to providing educational and enrichment opportunities to children living in the shelter system. I have served on this board for 8 years. I believe that all children deserve the opportunity to learn and to thrive under any living condition.

COS helps under-served youth in San Francisco by providing educational services, such as in-shelter tutoring and tuition assistance, as well as access to cultural activities, after school programs, health and wellness opportunities, birthday cakes and books, and enrollment in summer camps. Our goal is to enable children with access to enrichment resources that build confidence and develop essential learning skills to help them thrive and break the cycle of poverty.

The mission of COS is to connect some of the 2,500 children living in or being supported by family transitional shelters to the enrichment and educational opportunities they need to better their chances at ending a life of poverty.

Each year COS hosts four signature fundraising events to support the shelters and schools that we serve, including a Spring Luncheon, Jingle & Mingle, Holiday Stroll and SantaFest. We also host a Shelter Dinner to share the holidays with the families that we serve. Visit www.childrenofshelters.com to learn more.
